eBanking System for the Co-opBank and the People’s Credit Funds Network
Développement International Desjardins (DID) is currently seeking a qualified IT supplier to provide and implement an eBanking System for the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) and the People’s Credit Funds network in the framework of the STEP project, a technical assistance project targeting capacity building for the Co-opBank and the PCFs network.

Training on basic online facilitation for CoopBank branches
On Thursday, 17 September 2020, the Strengthening the People’s Credit Funds network (STEP) project successfully conducted the kick-off session of the training on basic online facilitation for 33 staff of 12 branches and the Training Center of CoopBank. In this session STEP introduced the new e-learning platform and emphasized the roles of the trainers of CoopBank branches in supporting PCFs using this new channel.

Deployment training for 75 pilot PCFs
STEP project conducted 6 training courses in Products & Services and 7 in Risk Management between August and December 2019.
370 managers and employees (168 women and 204 men) from 75 pilot People’s Credit Funds in three regions of Vietnam participated in this training series.

First Training of Trainers for Co-opBank staff
During 8th to 11th August 2019, STEP project successfully conducted the first Training of Trainers for Co-opBank staff.
54 participants (24 women and 30 men) from various departments of Co-opBank Head office and 14 branches attended the four days event at Sport Hotel in Hanoi.

2nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of STEP
On Tuesday, August 6th, 2019 the Project Steering Committee (PSC) of STEP has met for the second time since the beginning of the project.
Representatives from GAC, SBV, Co-opBank and DID-STEP attended the meeting. Mr. Jared Brading, Head of Development at the Embassy of Canada to Vietnam and Mr. Nguyễn Đức Dũng – Deputy General Director of Co-opBank co-chaired the committee.

Visit of Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong
On July 26th, 2019, the delegation of Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs, led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung, Deputy Director of the Department visited the DID project office in Hanoi. Hai Phong is one of 14 provinces/cities where STEP implements its pilot activities.

Non-collateral business and agricultural loans by Binh An PCF
Mr. Chao Ton, Khmer minority, is a member of Binh An People’s Credit Fund (PCF) in Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province. End of 2018, he applied and successfully received a 40 mil VND loan to expand his business and agricultural production.

Kick-off Meeting for People Credit Fund Reports Management System (PRMS)
On July 2, 2019, STEP held a meeting to launch the deployment of the PRMS software system (People Credit Fund Reports Management System) with the participation of the Co-opBank’ and WIN joint venture (Will Be Solution Vina & NGV). The MIS system will reinforce the Co-opBank as an apex institution and actively support it in its risk monitoring role of the operations of the PCF network.

Meeting with Deputy Governor of State Bank of Vietnam
During his first mission in Vietnam Mr. Jean Boisvert, Project Manager at DID headquarter together with Mr. Claude Lafond, STEP Field Director, and the partners at CoopBank had a meeting with Dr. Dao Minh Tu, Deputy Governor of State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on May 27th, 2019.

IDP Workshop 01.2019
On 17th January 2019 STEP project conducted the workshop on Institutional Development Plan of CoopBank Vietnam. Ms. Myriam Lafrance, Senior Consultant for DID and her local partner, Dr. Le Thanh Tam presented the draft content of the Institutional Development Plan of CoopBank and validated with the project partners.

As part of the national strategy to move towards a model of sustainable and inclusive economic growth, the STEP project (Développement International Desjardins in partnership with Co-opBank) aims to increase financial access for Vietnamese men and women in rural and agricultural areas thanks to a more integrated and better-performing PCFs network and Co-opBank.
Project activities take place in 14 provinces spread across the three main regions of Vietnam: North, Center and South.
